TENCEL™ has a moderate tendency to wrinkle when machine dried — less than linen but more than polyester. To minimise wrinkling: remove sheets promptly from the machine, smooth by hand while still slightly damp, and hang or fold immediately. Line drying while slightly damp and smoothing the fabric prevents most wrinkles from setting. If ironing is preferred, a low-to-medium iron setting while the fabric is slightly damp produces crisp results without damaging the fibres. TENCEL™ sateen weaves wrinkle less than TENCEL™ plain weave due to the longer float length of sateen construction.
With proper care — gentle 30°C washing, no bleach, low heat or line drying — TENCEL™ bed sheets typically last 3–5 years before showing significant thinning or weakening at stress points. TENCEL™ fibres are naturally strong but weaken when wet and subjected to high mechanical stress, so the gentle cycle is important for longevity.
