Natural fibres outperform synthetics in Malaysia's heat and humidity. Bamboo viscose wicks moisture up to 3× faster than cotton and keeps fabric surfaces 2–3°C cooler — ideal for hot sleepers. TENCEL™ offers comparable cooling with the added benefit of certified sustainable production. For those who prefer a crisper hand-feel, Egyptian cotton provides exceptional softness and durability. All three materials remain breathable even when humidity climbs above 80%.
Epitex bed sheets are available in four standard Malaysian sizes: Single (91×190cm), Super Single (107×190cm), Queen (152×190cm) and King (183×190cm). Most sets include a fitted sheet and two pillowcases; extra pillowcases and bolster cases are also sold separately. Wash bed sheets every 7 days under normal use — this removes accumulated body oils, sweat, dust mites and skin cells that build up over a week of sleeping. In Malaysia's heat and humidity, washing weekly is particularly important as perspiration provides nutrients for bacterial and mite growth. Use a gentle 30–40°C cycle with a mild detergent; avoid fabric softener on bamboo or TENCEL™ sheets, as it coats fibres and reduces their moisture-wicking performance.
Thread count is only one factor, and fibre quality always matters more. A 400TC Egyptian cotton sheet (extra-long staple fibres, finer yarn) will feel significantly softer and last longer than a 1,000TC sheet made from multi-ply polyester or standard short-staple cotton. For bamboo viscose and TENCEL™, thread count works differently — these finer fibres feel comparable to much higher-count cotton at 300–400TC. Focus on certified fibre quality and weave type rather than thread count as a standalone indicator.
A fitted sheet has elasticated corners that wrap around and grip the mattress — it stays in place and forms the layer you sleep directly on. A flat sheet is a rectangle of fabric without elastic, traditionally used as a top sheet between you and the duvet or blanket. In Malaysia, many households use only a fitted sheet with a light blanket or comforter on top, omitting the flat sheet entirely.
Yes — natural cooling fibres like bamboo and TENCEL™ are effective with or without air conditioning, as their cooling mechanism relies on moisture wicking and breathability rather than ambient temperature. In a room without air conditioning at 28–30°C, bamboo sheets will still wick perspiration away from the skin and allow heat to escape more efficiently than cotton or polyester. However, for temperatures above 30°C, combining cooling sheets with a fan or air conditioning will produce a noticeably better sleeping environment.
Epitex bed sheets are pre-washed before packaging to minimise post-purchase shrinkage. Minor shrinkage of 2–3% is normal for natural fibre textiles on first wash — this is accounted for in the cut dimensions. To preserve dimensions and minimise shrinkage: wash at 30–40°C (not above 60°C) or room temperature wash, use a gentle cycle and avoid high-heat tumble drying. Line drying in shade is the gentlest option for all natural fibre sheets.
